“We pledge ourselves to provide an open and caring place for the worship of  a loving and forgiving Triune God”

The Nurture Ministry plans and assists with our Worship Services.

Altar Guild:

The members of the Altar Guild are responsible for setting up the altar for services and clearing it afterwards. Won't you become a member and help "dress" the altar?

Coffee Hour:

Coffee hour is a tradition that makes Bay Shore UMC special! At Bay Shore UMC we share fellowhip during coffee hour following Sunday Worship. It is a great opportunity to socialize with the congregation, meet new people, or continue discussion of themes brought up during the service. Volunteers from the congregation host the coffee hour each week, and offer beverages and a light snack. If you want to host or co-host a coffee hour, please sign up on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall or click here, fill out the form and send it to us.

Communion Stewards:

The Communion Stewards are members of our church who are responsible to provide the congregation with the elements of holy communion the first Sunday of each month, Christmas, Easter and other special services. One or two people take one month each year to accomplish this task.

Flower Committee:

All the floral displays on the altar and West entry are prepared by members of the flower group. The flowers are provided by a local florist and billed to donors.

Two church members act as Greeters (one at each entrance) at each Sunday service.

Music Ministries

Music ministry at Bay Shore UMC adds a uniquely inspiring dimension to our worship services. Link to Music Ministry on the Side Bar Menu to learn more about our music ministry.

Powerpoint Team:

PowerPoint is used in our Sunday Services, to enhance and assist our church worship, and at other special services. If you are interested in helping, speak to any of the team. You can be involved by designing or running the PowerPoint at the services. Training is provided to anyone interested in participating in this support ministry.

Prayer Notes:

This group sends personally written notes to those named on the Prayer Request cards. Recipients are grateful for our prayers and encouragement. You're welcome to join us in bringing encouragement and comfort to others.

This group prepares the Spire. Members of the congregation are encouraged to contribute a story, idea, anecdote, thought or experience that can be shared in the "Personally Yours" column. The deadline for articles to be submitted is the 10th of every month.

Sound System:

This group maintains and operates the sound system and records Church services and distributes them to the shut-ins in our congregation.

The ushers consist of a staff of men, women and young adults. Ushers take the prayer requests, the offering, and help serve communion. They arrive one-half hour before service and tidy up the pews after each service.

Worship Committee:

Christ's church exists to worship God. The members of the worship committee help the congregation to understand the meaning, purpose, and the practice of worship. They work with the pastor and the music director with a goal of providing vital and alive worship experiences for the congregation. They encourage the use of spiritual devotional material, and the spiritual disciplines such as prayer, bible reading and study.
