Wendy C. Modeste is an ordained elder in full connection in the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. She was appointed pastor to our Church in July 2014.

Pastor Wendy served as the senior pastor of United Methodist Parish in Bushwick in the City of Brooklyn, New York from July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2014; a place that has experienced the transforming work of God through God’s Holy Spirit. Her ministry began in 2000 as an Associate Minister at Springfield Gardens United Methodist Church, Queens, New York.

Pastor Wendy earned a Doctor’s of Divinity degree in 2009 from Drew University, Madison, New Jersey in Congregational Growth and Development; a Master’s of Divinity degree in 2003 from New York Theological Seminary, New York, New York; and successfully completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) in 2004 from Charities Hospital, Queens Hospital Center, Jamaica, New York. She was Commissioned in June 2005 as a Probationary Member of the United Methodist Church and ordained in 2008.

Wendy serves on many of the Boards and Committees of the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. She is a continual learner who strives to grow in excellence in all that God has called her to. Her passion is to connect the local church and the community, to become a Change Agent, seeking “the peace and welfare of the City, for in the prosperity of the Church lies the prosperity of the City.” (Jeremiah 29:7).

Pastor Wendy was born in Trinidad, West Indies and raised in Grenada, West Indies. She immigrated to the United States of America to join her parents at the age of fifteen. She is the third child, the oldest girl, of her five siblings--three brothers and two sisters. Her parents, Neville and Mary Modeste are retired and reside in Orlando, Florida.

Prior to being called to ministry, Pastor Wendy studied Counseling and Human Resources in 1998 from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Connecticut; earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Corporate Communication/Psychology in 1995 from Baruch College—CUNY; and Associates' degrees in 1992 in Business Administration and Secretarial Science from Queensborough Community College—CUNY, Queens, New York.

Pastor Wendy is a woman of faith who is excited about ministry. She has an unwavering and undaunting love for the Lord and the work of the ministry.
